THE March meeting of Bulphan WI certainly went at a brisk pace with a cookery demonstration by Sandra Rolfe whipping up six dishes in just over an hour.
She prepared Creamy Blue Cheese Pasta, Quiche and Chocolate Brownie all microwaved and served in a mug as easy and quick meal ideas. There was a microwave Pineapple Upside Down Pudding, Stir Fry Pork Pasta in a Creamy Mushroom Sauce cooked on an induction hob and finally a no cook Chocolate Cheesecake all of which the members were able to sample and thoroughly enjoyed. If you’d like a copy of any of the recipes please contact us via the details below. We also held a members Easter Cupcake competition to keep in with the foodie theme.
The exciting news was that one of our members was invited to a garden party along with a member from every other WI in the country that will be held at Buckingham Palace in June as part of the WI Centenary Celebrations. All those that were able to attend put their names into a draw and the lucky lady who won happens to have her birthday on the same day as the event so a double celebration.
The April meeting is a Masquerade Ball to mark Bulphan WIs 86th Birthday. This is a closed meeting for members and invited guests only.
April will also see several members attending The Brick Lane Musical on St. Georges Day for afternoon tea and a variety show. On the 29th of April all the 9 WIs in the Thames Group get together for their annual meeting with guest speakers, produce stall and display of items made by members from recycled materials. We will also be collecting baby blankets and trauma teddies made by the members which will go to Basildon Neo-Natal Unit.
Our Wednesday 13th May meeting will involve discussions on this year’s national resolution Failure to Care and our AGM.
