A LARGE number of Thurrock residents completed the 35th Virgin London Marathon on Sunday.

All those months of long training sessions seemed worth it as the runners passed the finishing line and were awarded the medal.

Some ran for charities, some for family and some for the personal goal of getting round the very long distance.

Three of the Chafford Hundred Running Group produced great runs: Emily Rawlings: 4.24, Katie Boosey: 4.36 and Vicky Butler: 5.01

Emily Rawlings wrote on her Facebook page: "Well I am now the proud owner of a marathon title and most importantly, marathon medal.

"The 26.2 miles completed today was built up to through early morning runs, massages, tears, foam rolling, sweat, spots, lack of wine, sleepless nights and forgetfulness to name a few".

The Chafford Hundred Running Group have a great attitude to running and if you are thinking of getting involved, track them down on Facebook.

David Tapsell does a lot of great charity work for the Scouts and completed the course in 4hrs and 43mins.

Fobbing’s Jodie Still is an accomplished horsewoman. But she got round on two legs in a very creditable 5hrs and 17 mins.
