THURROCK Council have been in discussions with Paramount studios as plans for a Hollywood style report just over the water in Kent gather pace.
Paramount London discussed their plans for the £2bn Paramount London Entertainment Resort on the Swanscombe Peninsula. It will feature a theme park, waterpark, sporting facilities, an entertainment street, a staff training academy and about 5,000 hotel rooms.
Thurrock Conservative councillors went straight onto Twitter to extol the virtues of the plans and the possible jobs boosts for Thurrock.
A Thurrock Council spokesperson said: “Senior council officers have had thorough discussions with Paramount’s consultants and in particular stressed the advantages of ferry links from Tilbury and Grays to Swanscombe to make it easier to employ local people in the new park.
“The council was disappointed to be told that, currently, a ferry from Grays is not being proposed.
“However there is an opportunity to continue to press for this during the formal planning consultation process and the council will continue to be vocal in looking after the interests of residents.”
