A fairer discussion must be played out about council officer pay rather than simply publishing pay amounts greater than £50,000.
A lot of council staff and public servants feel aggrieved enough about the annual disappointment of Government pay freezes and terms and conditions anyway before being pilloried in public by a two bob Tory politician who wants a bit of cheap publicity to make a name for himself.
If one is to publish and I am the first to insist on freedom of information then, at least, add education level as defined by a National Qualifications Framework. It could very well be that we as hard pressed Thurrock ratepayers, are bagging ourselves a real bargain!
