Thurrock Writers Circle: October report

Report by Joy Ridgewell

THURROCK Writer’s Circle members enjoyed a writing weekend held at Davy Down. It was a very intensive programme and everyone worked hard to improve on their work.

Our tutor was Stephanie Wilson, who set a varied programme of poetry, short story and script writing. Stephanie made this a really enjoyable event.

Previously a teacher at Bridge Rd Adult Centre, Stephanie now teaches at the St Edmunds School Rochester Essex. She also gave her services to The Thameside Prison in Essex, for many years, until it closed. Stephanie helped the inmates with their education while they were there.

She is also a talented actress; this comes across when she is teaching making her classes good fun.

Chairman Joy Ridgewell welcomed two more young ladies to our group, this is encouraging to see more young people enjoying writing. We hope they enjoy our meetings and so we can learn from each other and hope they will be happy to share their ideas.

October will see the TWC has been going for twenty years and a celebration evening meal out is being arranged. The TWC will be at the Thurrock Writers Festival at Grays Library on October 26th 2015 where they will have their latest Anthology on sale.

Next meeting is on Wednesday October 14th 2015 at the Hugh Delargy Close Hall Chadwell St Mary Grays Essex. RM16 4DB
