C2C’s new flexi-season ticket proving popular

C2C’s new Flexi-Season ticket for part-time commuters has proved hugely popular since launch, with passengers buying more than 5,000 journeys in the first two weeks alone.

Over 550 local commuters in Essex have now bought Flexi-Season tickets, which are the first of their type in the UK and provide 10 journeys each at a discounted price.

As the Flexi-Season tickets are bought online, this has removed the equivalent of up to 5,500 people from queues at local ticket offices, saving time for all rail passengers.

The number of people registering for the free c2c Smartcard, which passengers need before buying their Flexi-Season tickets, has also trebled since the new ticket was introduced.

c2c Managing Director Julian Drury said: "We knew that this new ticket would really appeal to some local commuters, but we’ve been amazed at how quickly it has caught on. This shows how many people want a ticket that gives them greater flexibility, and provides full-time value to part-time commuters."

Flexi-Seasons can save regular part-time commuters from Southend, Basildon or Benfleet over £100 a year. More information, including an online calculator which helps passengers to work out how much they could personally save, is available at www.c2c-online.co.uk/tickets-and-fares/c2c-smartcard/flexi-season/.
