WE continued our good run to the season clinching seven points out of nine from our last three games, with the victory over bottom of the table Wroxham on Saturday afternoon.

It was a quiet start to the game with Wroxham having a few half chances, but the bottom of the league side just couldn’t take them.

Elliott Pride made a smart save to deny Sherwin Stanley from close range. But only a minute later Sherwin Stanley shot from the left hand side of the penalty area to open the scoring for the Millers.

We continued to look for the buffer goal. Michael Finneran came close to getting his second of the season but his diving header went over the bar. Emmanuel Ighorae was the second Aveley player to come close but his shot flashed past the post.

It was Sherwin Stanely who got his second and Aveley’s second of the afternoon. Emmanuel Ighorae crossed into Abs Seymour whose shot was brilliantly saved by Wroxham’s shot stopper, but Sherwin was there to smash home from close range.

The visitors put on a spirited display in the second half. They had an early corner kick but nothing came of it.

With 21 minutes left, Wroxham got back into the game and gave themselves a route back into the match as Yachtsmen substitute Jordan Rocastle scored from close range. Aveley 2-1 Wroxham.

Kyle Baker had a guilt edge chance to equalise for Wroxham from 12 yards but fired over the bar after he robbed the ball from the Millers defence.

The visitors were reduced to ten men deep into added on time, there seemed to be barging in the penalty area which resulted in Adam Plumstead being shown a red card.

But the Millers held out for the important three points. But for the visitors they had nothing to show for their long journey and great effort throughout, as they stay routed to the bottom of the table without a point after five matches.

Next up for the Millers is another difficult match away at tricky Haringey Borough.
