IMPULSE Leisure has presented a cheque for £1,700 to Macmillan Cancer Support after the success of its first coffee morning. The money will help support those living with cancer.

Staff from Impulse Leisure volunteered to host the coffee morning, which was held last month at Civic Hall in Grays, providing tea, coffee and cold drinks as well as a wide range of delicious cakes and biscuits.

The event also included a live DJ and a raffle with fantastic prizes including swimming passes, golf days, champagne, hampers, a £75 shopping voucher at Intu Lakeside, restaurant vouchers, leading whiskey brands, a voucher for Orsett Hall country hotel and hairdressing vouchers.

Staff from Macmillan were on hand to offer advice and support in addition to representatives from St Luke’s Hospice and Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals.

“We are delighted with the success of our first coffee morning in support of Macmillan Cancer Support. We had a great response from the local community and we can’t thank them enough for helping us to raise so much money for such a worthy cause. We will be running an even bigger and better event next year,” says Wendy Barnard, who runs Impulse Leisure’s cancer rehabilitation sessions.
