Knife-wielding gang commit violent burglary in Grays

Castle Road

ESSEX Police are appealing for information after three men forced their way into a home in South Stifford and threatened people inside.

Suspects gained entry to a property in Castle Road by smashing a window and then threatened the occupants with a knife and crowbar at around 4.25am on Wednesday, April 11.

One victim, aged in his 40s, was pushed to the floor before the suspects left with mobile phones and a set of keys.

The suspects have been described as being black and were wearing hoodies, scarves over their faces and gloves.

Investigating officer DC Nicola Hadfield, of Grays CID, said: “This was a terrifying incident for all those involved.

“We are continuing to support the victims and while our investigation is progressing, we are now appealing for the public’s help.

“We recovered stolen items close to the scene, including an alleyway in the vicinity, and we would like to establish whether the suspects fled the scene in a car parked in a neighbouring road.

“Anyone with information, CCTV or dash cam footage is asked to call Grays CID on 101 quoting crime reference 42/48891/18 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
