THE Labour Party’s parliamentary candidate for Thurrock has welcomed a report which says the majority of people in the borough want to keep Orsett Hospital and not see hospital services spread around.
John Kent said: “I have said from the outset this consultation was flawed – it was poorly publicised and the proposal to close Orsett Hospital should have been the subject of its own consultation.
“Despite the fact that three quarters of Thurrock residents are opposing these ill thought through plans to close
Orsett Hospital, I just hope that common sense prevails and this plan is now dropped.
“It would be better still if the final proposals actually accepted this and saw new investment at Orsett.”
