Thurrock’s Chief Executive joins Kitchen Table Workshop
Taking place at the Kinetika studio was a screen printing and sewing workshop. Lyn met members of the community attending the workshop to help create a tablecloth to be used on the T100 Recipes walks. Now in its fourth year, T100 this year is taking food as its theme and extending into Southend, Dartford and Gravesend.
The 14 T100 Recipes walks take place between Saturday 7 and Sunday 22 July. The walks are free to join but some charges may be made for food along the routes. The festival features a range of easy daytime and evening walks, of various lengths, all exploring varieties of recipes and offering opportunities to share food.
The walk on Saturday 21July coincides with an Open Day at the Port of Tilbury. The walk will be led by carnival dancers from Elite Dance Academy and BB’s Dance Academy, and the Tilbury Docker puppet commissioned by the Tilbury on the Thames Trust and made by Kinetika. The walk will culminate with a public feast in La Cocina Publica, the Public Kitchen. The kitchen is being brought to the Port by Teatro Container on their UK debut. The mobile kitchen is built inside a shipping container.
T100 Recipes is the first phase of Kinetika’s new two year project Kitchen Table: a project which will explore the stories of the diverse communities from around the world who have settled along the lower Thames Estuary, encouraging conversations over food and culture to help develop a better understanding of common histories, and unique traditions.
A full programme of walk routes, start times and locations, can be found on the Thurrock 100 website.
