Another chance to benefit from Thurrock Soup

THURROCK residents are being invited to have their business ideas turned into reality thanks to another Thurrock Soup event.

Thurrock Soup is a series of events to inspire social enterprise and business ideas from the local community.

Giving for Thurrock (GiFT) have helped fund this wonderful event to support ways to access and secure funding for future local projects for entrepreneurs in our borough.

Attendees pay £5 for a bowl of soup and a roll, to enjoy while networking before the business pitches begin. Everyone is then asked to vote on their favourite idea and the winning entry receives the money collected from the soup donations to use towards starting up their business enterprise. Previous Thurrock Soup events have been match-funded by the Port of Tilbury who sponsor the event, so winners have often received over £300.

Cllr Deborah Huelin, Portfolio Holder for Communities said: “Thurrock Soup is all about investing in the future social entrepreneurs of our borough. Members of the public are invited to come along and pitch an idea for a social enterprise business or to be in the audience and vote on who should win the funding.

This is a great opportunity for a local business idea to get the small boost they need to get started, making a big contribution to the local community.”

The event will be held at Thurrock Adult Community College on Friday 20 July from 6:30pm. For more information and to register to attend visit thurrock.gov.uk/thurrocksoup

  1. What safety measurers are in place to stop unscrupulous
businessmen or organisations from stealing the great idea presented.

Or is this the idea behind the event.
