==============

YT asked Thurrock Council, why so many bins were not being collected.

A spokesperson said: “Waste collections can be missed for a number of operational reasons including poorly parked vehicles preventing bin lorries from being able to access roads and traffic congestion. When roads have been missed waste is normally collected the following day during normal working hours.

“Over the last few weeks Thurrock Council has adopted a more proactive use of its social media feeds to alert residents to the situation and advise them to leave their bins out for collection the next day”.

  1. I make you right there Rocket1.

    People have no thought and they are the first ones to moan. That said they miss our bins occasionally and cannot use that excuse.

  2. In Horndon-on-the-Hill the green bins were not collected this week on Tuesday 4 September – the planned day – and our brown bin was partially emptied only. Having contacted Thurrock Council about this there was a very prompt email reply to say that due to operational difficulties nothing could be done before the next normal collection day (Tuesday 11 September).

    Clearly Thurrock Council appear to have a major problem at the moment but it isn’t clear if it is staffing or the lorries. Let’s hope all is sorted for next week.
