Prokit UK Essex Olympian League – Saturday 22nd September Round-Up

BBC Essex Premier Cup

Alex Witham’s hat-trick against Toby on Saturday included two from the penalty spot Basildon Town made it into the next round via a 3-2 extra time win. Ross Dipple and Peter Spicer scored the Toby goals, who were also reduced to ten men after an hour. Beacon Hill Rovers went to penalties with Upminster, which they won 8-7 after the game had been tied at 2-2; Zac Armstrong and Steve Bennett scoring the Beacon Hill goals. Springfield meanwhile went out on penalties after their game with Docklands Albion ended 1-1. The visitors held their nerve in the shootout, booking their place in the next round after a 5-4 penalty win. After such close games it is now on to whitewashes and Buckhurst Hill certainly had one of those as they smashed eight without reply past Shenfield AFC. Nathan Sollosi and Steve Townsend both scored hat-tricks, with Sonny Shilling and Sam Sollosi also chipping in. Shoebury Town beat Ramsey & Mistley 10-3, while Rochford Town were on the wrong end of a 6-0 score line at Arlesford Colne Rangers.

Tom Hollingsworth and Billy Shulver hit the target twice each as Catholic United beat Cressing United 6-2. Tom Kearney and Harley Kee provided the other goals; Sungate beat Lakeside by the same score line with Reece Simpson (2), Jermaine Purchase (2), Scott Truman and Jack Clarke providing the goals. Old Chelmsfordians beat Snaresbrook 4-2 with a Sam Adams brace being added to by Tom Tinsley-Gardner and Josh Lawrence. Snaresbrook scored their goals via Mitchell Collymore and Ryan Barker. Nico Debuchet bagged a brace as Old Southendian beat Great Bentley 4-2; Nick Henesy and Josh Staines were the other Old Southendian scorers, while Rayleigh Town beat fellow Olympian Premier Division outfit Leigh Ramblers 4-2. Max Jones (2), George Vile and Jack Long were the Rayleigh scorers, with Justin Hazell and Jacob Cleaver the sources for the Leigh Ramblers replies. Great Baddow needed extra time before they were able to overcome Earls Colne with a 4-2 away success; Runwell Sports also needed extra time before they could extinguish Barnston, with Callum Prin, Declan Clarke and Jordan Gregory their scorers. Meanwhile extra time was needed to separate Little Oakley Res. and Herongate Athletic, with the final result ended in a high scoring 8-5 win for Little Oakley.

Ryan suffered a 3-0 loss at Kelvedon Social; Frenford Res. were beaten 4-3 at Gas Recreation, while another Olympian side also went out as Harold Wood Athletic lost to local rivals and fellow Premier Division outfit Kelvedon Hatch. Alan Taylor (2) and James Bertie were the Kelvedon Hatch scorers in that 3-1 away win. The ten men of Academy Soccer were able to come away from Dedham Old Boys with a 2-1 win. Ben Picton scored a screamer and then Dean Maguchu added to it to see their side through. And Hutton were able to end Clapton Community’s Essex Premier Cup campaign with a 5-4 win, in a game that they had been leading 3-0 at one point. Tom Price scored twice, with Chris Rowett, Kyle Lindzell and George Nash also notching for Hutton, who also survived a late flurry from the hosts before the final whistle was blown. Canning Town beat Barkingside Res 2-1, in a game which saw them technically scoring all the goals as the Essex Senior League’s Reserve Division leaders goal came via an own goal. Joe Hall and Dan Bonny put the ball in the right net however to see their side through. Meanwhile Ramsden Scotia beat Grays Athletic Res. 4-0 to book their 2nd Round berth, while May & Baker E.C. Res. handed West Bergholt an easy passage as they failed to fulfil their game, while Manford Way also made it into the next round without a ball being kicked as their opponents Wormingford Wanderers withdrew from the competition.

Division One

A below par Galleywood at least avoided defeat at FC Hamlets as Jack Chatterway and Sam Donn were on hand to score their goals in the 2-2 draw at Hackney Marshes.

Division Two

There were only two games in Division Two on Saturday and both ended in 5-0 victories for the victors. Harold Wood Athletic Res. secured their win at May & Baker E.C. ‘A’ with Thomas Lamb and Jon Tungate both scoring twice apiece; Michael Burton supplied the other goal and the win sees their side now top the division. Meanwhile Gary Murray, Louis Bollard, Alex Gordon, Umar Ali and Tayo Olasanoye were on the Chingford Athletic score sheet as they overturned Newham United.

Division Three

Westhamians remain top of the division after a 3-2 win over Basildon Town Res. Two points now separates them from second-placed Old Southend Res. who were held to a 2-2 draw by Roydon. Darren Williams and Charlie Rider scored the Roydon goals, with El Hemmings and David Stubbs notching for Old Southendian. Paul Wines scored twice for Wakering Sports as they recorded a 3-2 away win over Hutton Res. John Sharpe was the other Wakering scorer while Hutton’s replies were provided by Alfie Kempton and Chris Skingley. Leigh Town are third after Zac Mashford, George Darby, Ash Sexton and Jack Edwards scored a goal apiece in their 4-1 win over Old Chelmsfordians Res. who at least scored a consolation via Elliott Walker.
