Get on-line at Thurrock Adult Community College

TACC On-line

IT’S Get Online Week where Thurrock residents are being encouraged to see how it feels when you Try 1 thing – use the internet to do just one thing you’d normally do in a shop or bank, in a doctor’s or chemist, or even over the phone. Joseph Price, Course Leader for IT & Digital Skills at Thurrock Adult Community College (TACC) says “More people than you probably think don’t use the internet at all, and we’re here to help. But even if you send the odd email, use Facebook or read the news on your phone, you could still be missing out on so much. Getting the most out of computers, smartphones and the internet doesn’t have to be scary and we can help you do just that, safely with our many courses or through accessing free digital skills training in our Cyber Café, as an Online Centres Network partner. We also have tailored courses for over-55s wanting to improve their digital skills, with reduced rates for those over-65.”

One TACC learner who’s already benefited from trying 1 thing is Kellie who’s become an extremely confident and capable IT user as a result of the support received from her tutor and peers at the college, achieving her goal to succeed in an office career after progressing from a Beginners IT course to a Level 2 qualification. Another says “I liked how easy it was to discuss my worries and fears with Joe about using the computer and how he made things seem more easier to understand it – I know I’m a late starter to learning to use the computer but feel these courses will help give me the confidence – I was terrified and now I’m not! I intend to sign up for other courses”.

You can call 01375 372476 to find out more, or pop into the community college in Richmond Road, Grays, RM17 6DN and ask for help with IT and digital skills.
