Hassenbrook Academy leaves special measures in the past

Hassenbrook leaves special measures in the past

HASSENBROOK school, part of the ORTU trust in Stanford Le Hope, is optimistic for the future after a recent Ofsted Inspection raised its rating out of special measures.

Joanne Williams, headteacher at the school, wrote to parents today (Monday 1 July) to explain the inspection findings and make them aware that the full inspection report is available online.

She said: “The report is a fair description of where we are on our journey to becoming a great school. As you will see, the overall judgement is Requires Improvement. This reflects the progress that we have achieved together since the previous inspection.

“Although the school recognises that there is still much to improve on, it is reassuring to know that Ofsted acknowledges our improvement plan, the strength of the senior leadership of the school and that we are moving in the right direction.”

The report highlighted a number of areas as strengths including:

Arrangements for safeguarding are effective
Pupils feel safe and their parents agree
Pupils’ learning is particularly strong in English and Maths, and that teachers secure pupils’ knowledge and develop their confidence
Pupils are praised for their attendance, punctuality and tidy appearance and are excited to tell inspectors about the reward system
Along with:

The Headteacher appointed in January 2017, supported by other senior leaders, is driving forward improvements in the school. She is being supported well by governors and the trust.

Suitable plans are in place to raise achievement further
Three quarters of parents now believe the school is well led and would recommend the school
Leaders have worked hard to recruit staff with specialist expertise and this has been largely successful

Ms Williams went on to say: “Of course there is still much to do – which is true for many schools up and down the country. Our job now is to continue working on our improvement plan, keep working with our parents, community while continuing to place our students safety and education at the forefront of all our efforts.

“I would like to thank the parents, students and our school family for their hard work during the inspection and the ongoing support they continue to place with us.”
