Thurrock success at National Swimming Championships

JUDE Hills and Harrison Jarvis represented Thurrock at this year’s British Championships which was held in Glasgow’s international centre.

Jude qualified for the final of the 50m back in 9th position. In the final, he set a life time best to finish in a time of 28.77 and moved to 6th overall. Harrison Jarvis competed in the 100 breast. He swam a fantastic first 50m but finished just outside of his best with a time of 1.10.93.

Jude competed in the 100 back. In the heats, Jude swam a time of 1.02.96 to qualify 5th for the final. In the final of the 100 back, Jude finished 7th and achieved a 0.5 sec personal best.

Harrison competed in the 200 breast and just missed out on a final finishing in 2.35. On the 200 back, Jude just missed out of the final due to illness, but was very impressive at the 100m mark.

Both Jude and Harrison then travelled to Sheffield for the English Nationals and were joined by Ethan Martin.

Ethan Martin competing in his first national championships achieved a 1 second personal best to reach the final of the 100m back. Again, in the final, Ethan swam exceptionally well and swam to another personal best finishing 7th in 1.04.59.

Jude Hills achieved a 0.5 sec PB in the 50m free to make the final of this event. In the final, Jude finished 5th overall with another best time of 26.01. In the 1500m swim, Jude finished 4th with a 19 second personal best time 17:25.84. In the 800m swim, Jude came 2nd with a fantastic 14 second PB. He also achieved a best time at the 400m point. Jude on missed 1st place by 0.09 seconds!

In the 200 fly, he achieved a 3 sec PB to make the final. Once again, Jude pushed himself to achieve another 3 sec PB finishing 5th in a time of 2.19.35. On the last day, Jude swam a 6 second PB to make the 400m free final. Later that evening he once again set another best time by 4 secs and finished 2nd overall.
Harrison Jarvis competed in the 50m breast in these championships.

In the heats Harrison had a great swim, setting a life time best finishing in a time of 31.75. In the finals he finished 7th overall in exactly the same time as the heats.

Radost Milkova competed in the Bulgarian National Championships. Radost had a great championship setting best times in all of her events. In the 100m back, she finished 3rd in a time of 1.09.17. This was the first national medal she has won. She finished 4th in the 50 back (32.17) and 5th in the 200 in a time of 2.31.57. Radost finished 10th in the 50 & 100 fly (31.55 and 1.10.58).
