Labour’s crime candidate reflects on result

IN increasing Labour’s vote by more than 30,000 county wide, and taking Labour into a clear second place, Chris Vince has declared that ‘Labour are clearly the only viable opposition to the Tories across Essex, and this result gives us a strong base to go forward and to articulate a clear vision for the future.’

Labour increased its vote share to almost 25%, received just under 100,000 votes, and moved from third to second since 2016, in the Essex Police, Fire & Crime Commissioner election, with its vote doubling in both Tendring and Chelmsford, and winning more votes in Harlow and doing particularly well in Southend and Braintree.

‘This election clearly showed Labour doing better, but we must do much better still. We must set a clear vision for the future, oppose the cuts that are baked into future Tory budgets, and show voters that Labour can build a better future.’
