THE LABOUR candidate at the next General Election, Polly Billington has written to the head of C2C after a disastrous week of stoppages and diversions on the train line.
The letter in full reads:
Dear Mr Drury,
Commuters have suffered an extraordinarily bad service this last week on C2C. Each day we have had apologies but little else. It is only reasonable we know what is going on: the real anxiety people will have is that what seemed initially to be a small fault is actually a serious problem. How much longer will this last? And what are you doing to fix it?
Passengers are entitled to more than that: I look forward to you letting us know how much compensation they will receive to make up for the poor service. This is the least they can expect bearing in mind the price of rail travel on C2C, and that C2C makes profit out of the thousands of Thurrock residents who use the service every day.
For the purposes of transparency I am releasing this letter to the media.
