IT WAS a beautiful evening as the students gathered in their finery for a champagne reception in the Gateway Academy courtyard. Some arrived by stretch Hummer and some by classic american cars.
THE STUDENT Executive at Palmer's College raised over £2,500 for the Make A Wish Foundation. They presented a cheque to Mike Goddard from the Foundation.
Working in partnership with the extremely talented Steve Titford and his team, they have used a vast number of students and a dazzling array of techniques to produce a spell-binding performance that was both entertaining, excellent and engaging.
Fielding not only an A team but a B team the school recorded substantial wins to become top boys team and top girls team in the borough thereby being crowned the 2010 Secondary Schools gala winners for the second consecutive year. Head of P.E Deri Reid said “I am so proud to be part of such an impressive school team this year. The trophy will take pride of place in our school”.
EDGE. That is the feeling you get when you step into the Palmer's College Art exhibition. The students work has a definite vitality about it. None of the work can be ignored.

There was a fascinating array of subject awards: Achievement in Literacy, Psychology, Health and Social Care, Public Services, Ethics and Morality as well as the traditional subjects.
THIS last week has given us the opportunity to see the vast array of musical talent perform on stage at a number of celebration evenings across the borough.
YourThurrock spent the morning at Grays School and Media Arts College to see how a Year 6 class settles in. The students went to art where they were taken through the whole process of a "classic" art lesson with Deputy Head, Rachel D'Arcy.
All the schools have been packed with a variety of activities over the last few weeks but this was one of the best artistic performances. Word and pitch perfect with energy and enthusiasm.
