THURROCK Labour have reacted to the shocking news that, due to issues with the Tory-run Department for Education (DfE), a whole cohort of Thurrock children in Year 6 will be denied the chance to start Orsett Heath Academy in September 2023.
DESPITE the challenges of the last two years, year 11 students are celebrating some fantastic GCSE results today with a third of the year group achieving more than expected progress, some by more than 2 grades.
THE St Clere’s class of 2022 have shown huge resilience throughout their secondary education and they have not let two years of Covid lockdown effect their futures. Today, the Year group received their GCSE outcomes and were able to celebrate some huge successes following a turbulent few years.
CLLR Barry Johnson, Cabinet Member for Children's Services, said: "This morning I visited Grays Convent and The Hathaway Academy with Cllr James Halden, Mayor of Thurrock. We met students receiving their GCSE results and it was wonderful to speak with young people about their grades and what their planned next steps and aspirations are.
AFTER a really challenging couple of years for every single student across the country and a long anxious wait during the summer, the moment finally came today when Year 11 students at the Gateway Academy received their GCSE grades. There were shrieks of joy and relief as student after student opened their envelopes to see how well they have achieved.
STUDENTS at Ormiston Park Academy, which is in Aveley, Thurrock, are celebrating today after receiving their GCSE results, as they get ready to take their next steps in their education journey.
CONCERN remains among parents of children at Corringham's Gable Hall School despite the first series of meetings aimed at explaining plans to get it back on track.
