A KNIFE-CARRYING youth was unrepentant after being found guilty of theft at the Apple Store in Lakeside.

The youth was held after stealing a pair of Bose headphones valued at £150 on the 5th May last month.

The court heard that on being searched a knife was found on his person.

At Grays Youth Court, the youth said: “I had lent it to a friend. He had just given it back. I had no intention of using it.”

Chair of Magistrates, Margaret Caisley warned the 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, that had he been a year older, he would be going to prison but the youth appeared unrepentant, explaining again that the knife stayed in his pocket.

He was given a 10-month referral order and a £20 fine.
