Detectives investigating an incident at a pub in South Ockendon yesterday evening (May 14) are treating this as attempted murder.
Around 10.20pm four men entered the Archers pub in Garron Lane, searching for a local man, aged in his 20s. One of the men was armed with a shotgun that was subsequently discharged in the car park as the intented victim fled the scene. No one was injured.
The men are described as white, aged in their 30s and 40s, one man had faded tattoos on both arms.
They left the pub in two cars, a dark BMW and dark coloured Ford Mondeo. Police are carrying out house to house enquiries in the area and there is a scene guard at the pub .
Detectives are appealing for information. DCI Mark Hall from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate
said: “I believe that this was not a random attack and the victim was targeted. I need to speak to all the
people who were in the pub last night and anyone who was in the vicinity and can help us identify these dangerous men.
This is a highly populated area and to discharge a firearm is reckless in the extreme.”
Anyone with any information to identify the suspects is asked to contact the Brentwood Major Investigation team on 101 or e mail [email protected], or give information anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
