Teens due in court over stolen car rap

TWO teenagers are due to appear in court later this month (October) after having been charged with motoring offences.

Police were contacted at 11:30pm on Wednesday, July 17 following reports that a car had been stolen from outside a residential property on Thors Oak in Stanford-le-Hope.

A short time later, a 16-year-old boy from Tilbury and a 15-year-old girl from Corringham were arrested and later released on police bail pending further enquiries. These enquiries have now been completed and the boy has been charged with one count of taking a car without the owner’s consent, one count of driving without insurance and one count of driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.

The girl has been charged with one count of being allowed to be carried in a car which has been taken without the owner’s consent.

Both teenagers are currently on police bail prior to their appearances at Basildon Youth Court on Tuesday, October 29.
