THERE is only just over a week to go before nominations for the second Thurrock Education Awards close.
Nominations for the awards can be made through the home page of Thurrock Council’s website (thurrock.gov.uk). They opened before the summer break and are open until Friday, 9 October.
Thurrock Council Leader and education portfolio holder, Cllr John Kent, said: “Last year the number and quality of nominations was tremendous – this year looks better still.
“With still over a week to go, we have received well over a hundred nominations – that just proves how good our education system in Thurrock is.
“There was a time when we failed to celebrate Thurrock’s successes; no more. Celebrating success is a simple step to ensuring that very success continues, just as saying ‘thank you’ is such an effective way of ensuring people feel appreciated.
“I know it is always sad some have to lose out, and I know the calibre of nominations is so high that there will be some disappointments, but it is a simple fact that all nominees deserve our thanks and congratulations.
“We should also thank all our sponsors, for without them we couldn’t organise this wonderful celebration.
“Remember, there’s just over a week to go to nominate somebody for an award – don’t miss the opportunity.”
