Grays Beachcombers take to Tilbury Fort

YESTERDAY the foreshore litter pickers were out again, this time at Tilbury Fort picking 39 sacks of plastic rubbish which included 633 single use plastic bottles before they get an opportunity to float off into the ocean.

With spring fast approaching there are lots of other events planned – see below for details.

Future Local Foreshore Clean-Ups

Saturday 23rd March – meeting at RSPB Rainham, New Tank Hill Road, Purfleet, RM19 1SZ at 10:30 to 12:30. This forms part of the Great British Spring Clean and is a family friendly event suitable for accompanied children 6 years and older.

Sunday 7th April – meeting at Grays Yacht Club RM17 6JF at 10:30 to 12:00 followed by free refreshments in the café. This is the Grays Beachcombers regular monthly pick. This forms part of the Great British Spring Clean and is a family friendly event suitable for accompanied children 6 years and older.

Wednesday 10th April – Mucking Creek Clean-up – meeting at St Margaret’s Avenue, Stanford Le Hope SS17 0SH at 10:30 to 13:00. This forms part of the Great British Spring Clean – new location.

Saturday 13th April – meeting at Concrete Barges, Coldharbour Lane, Rainham, RM13 9YQ at 10:30 to 13:30. This forms part of the Great British Spring Clean and is a family friendly event suitable for accompanied children 6 years and older.

Wednesday 24th April – Emptying WWII Pill Boxes – meeting at Old St Clements Church, West Thurrock RM20 4AL at 10:30 to 13:00. This is an adult only event and will include up to 4 miles walking.
