Grays man set to face charges of Nighthawking

A GRAYS man is due to appear in court later this week accused of stealing a £15,000 coin in Cambridgeshire and a gold Roman coin in Norfolk through Nighthawking. Nighthawking is illegal metal-detecting on archaeological sites, or other areas of archaeological interest, and private land in order to recover treasure or other items of value. It is performed where permission to survey and dig has been refused or never sought.

RCCG Tilbury celebrated five years since their first Diversity Day with a celebration of the growing communities in Tilbury. Residents and community champions from the Tilbury area and across the borough came together to the event in the Civic Square.

“Freak wave” kills passenger on cruise ships return to Tilbury

A MAN has died on a cruise ship as it returns to Tilbury when a freak wave crashed through his window. The wave battered the British cruise ship Marco Polo, operated by Cruise & Maritime Voyages (CMV) as it headed for its home port of Tilbury at the end of a 42-night voyage.

Stroke survivors to undertake charity cycle

STROKE survivors and carers from The Stroke Club are undertaking a charity cycle challenge. To be held on ‘fixed’ bikes at Blackshots Leisure Centre in Grays on Saturday 22nd February, the participants aim to cycle an ambitious 100km between them – no mean feat as most have varying degrees of disability following their stroke.

Millions from Veoila help boost Thurrock community
