The second seminar was for brown and black belts and Kiyoshi Coleman took things a higher level, teaching the Goju Ryu kata "Kurunrunfa" along with many of its practical applications for both kumite (sparring) and self defence. Students and instructors from other clubs as far a Colchester and South London were also in attendance.

In the remaining game, Thurrock A delivered a shock to Horndon on the Hill as the villagers lost for only the second time in the competition. Horndon were dismissed for 54 as Ben Northfield struck with three wickets for only twelve runs.

The second period was much the same as the first, plenty of spirit shown by the visitors, with very little to show, as early tries from Ben Stanley and Darryl Worster both converted by Frankie Neale put Thurrock in an unassailable lead. Rochford did manage to create a score when their captain Stewart scored, and the Ashton converted off of the crossbar.
I focussed on my lift, with my coach Derek Cope giving me final words of encouragement and got myself “in the zone”, as soon as “bar loaded” was called I approached the platform like a raging bull, accepted the bar handed out to me, lowered the bar to my chest and once the “bench” signal was given I exploded the lift toward the ceiling and awaited the judges signals to see if the lift had been given.
After a mid-season break due to weather conditions, Thurrock returned to action against league leaders Saffron Walden. Both sides started cautiously with some slick passing but very few attempts on goal. Walden were looking to spread the play but Tees were more than a match defensively.
