Development Corporation move to council offices

The move, which has been sanctioned by the Department for Communities and Local Government, will enable the Corporation to work more closely with Thurrock Council to ensure the smooth transition when its functions revert to the local authority in April 2012.

Bulphan WI: March Report

On display were Bulphan memories: documents, photos, maps, our 3 WI scrapbooks – members had brought along all manner of things. As well as gaining points towards winning our competition cup by bringing something relevant along, some deserving members received extra points. For example, for living in Bulphan the longest (Marian Blackburn – over 80 years); Marian was born in the family home in Pear Tree Lane, but the midwife couldn’t get there. An aunt helped with the birth, and announced that it was a boy!

Razor’s coming to see the Dockers!

Tilbury F.C. are hosting an Evening with Neil Ruddock. The former West Ham, Liverpool, Tottenham and Southampton legend is at Tilbury Football club on the 8th April. Throughout the night there will be disco,hot food included and a collectors auction. Fully licensed bar.

The Jack Petchey Foundation celebration evening was held at the Civic Hall last week to showcase and celebrate the amazing young talent in Thurrock. Eisteddfod set for Gateway Academy

The two-week festival will be made up of off stage and on stage events. Each subject will set its pupils a task or challenge in which to complete. Heavy fines for companies after worker crushed near Lakeside

The court heard that Gary Drinkald, 43, was working for Micor Ltd during the overnight demolition work of the A1306 Stifford Rail Bridge, West Thurrock. A 31-tonne concrete beam had been removed from the bridge and placed on the back of a low loader lorry. The chains securing the beam were removed from the crane before it was secured to the low loader. The beam then fell - crushing Mr Drinkald under it.

MP joins Olympian Steve Redgrave in record bunting bid

Stephen Metcalfe, Member of Parliament for South Basildon and East Thurrock recently joined Fairtrade Ambassador and five time Olympic gold medallist, Sir Steve Redgrave, in Parliament in a bid to break the record for the world’s longest bunting.
