OH DEAR, Oh dear. According to the Mirror, The NHS is being robbed by GP’s who are collecting money for unregistered patients! This was mentioned in a comment on my last blog. To be more precise, four GPs have been charged for cheating. And the remaining 33,000 GP’s? Let’s see!

Still time to take the 28-day Stoptober challenge

THERE is still time to join the Stoptober challenge, kick the habit and add an extra seven days to your life for every 28 days you remain smoke free. Although Stoptober is a 28-day quit attempt to encourage the nation’s eight million smokers to take the first steps towards a smoke-free future, it’s not too late, there’s still time to join. Reducing the number of people smoking is a key health target for Thurrock as smoking related deaths are high locally.

MP invites measures to help A&E in busy winter months

STEPHEN Metcalfe, MP for South Basildon and East Thurrock, has invited measures that will see an extra £2,490,00 invested into the local A&E department to help with the busy winter months. Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt recently declared that £250 million will be distributed to 53 NHS Trusts up and down the country, including Basildon and Thurrock NHS Foundation, to help them cope with the strain of the cold winter weather.

Cross party plan to tackle lack of GPs in borough

TWO Thurrock councillors say they plan to work together to tackle the lack of GPs across the Borough. Cllr Barbara Rice, portfolio holder for health and her “shadow” Cllr Shane Hebb say they are concerned about the “significant challenges in relation to GPs in the Thurrock area” reports The Thurrock Enquirer.

BABY Kate received a royal welcome when she was born at Basildon University Hospital on Monday 22 July. When coming into hospital on Monday morning little did Natia Kavelashvili know that she was going to give birth to her new baby girl at exactly the same time as the new Royal Prince was born.
