GERRY Marsden has been a household name since Gerry and the Pacemakers had three number one hits in a row. Gerry will be putting on a cracking show at the Thameside this Thursday.
We have to admit that when we started (Sept '08) we thought that there would be a plethora of portfolio videos from students across the borough. There hasn't been. So, it is always gratifying when we find a piece that illustrates that there is talent in the borough.
LYDIA was the guest singer at the Your Voice showcase at the Thameside Theatre last week. The show, a partnership between the Thurrock Music Services, the Thameside Theatre and YourThurrock.Com was a very entertaining evening. Lydia has already appeared on the West End stage in Billy Elliot and on Channel 5's Don't Stop Believing.
The show is a music show encapsulating genres from the 1950s to modern hits, moulding the two to attract a wider audience span. Many young local talents will be included in the night’s itinerary including an established favourite of Thurrock, Luke Coldham, and some more talents to look out for in the future. Music star of the 1980s and television personality ‘David Van Day’ will also be performing selected hits on the night, in order to support our funds raised for the hospice.
The Little Lake Monster club, which currently has over 1,000 members, gives parents the opportunity to receive information about family events, exclusive offers from a selection of the centre’s 250 stores and restaurants, enter great competitions and get priority booking for the centre’s free Santa's grotto.
In between acts, Darren entertained the audience with some fine and mesmerising beatboxing. We particularly loved the first part where he produces some brilliant work with the harmonica.
IT'S not too late to book your tickets to see the wonderful Ratpack at the Thameside tonight (Friday) Wayne Kennedy and his troupe re-enact the spirit of the famous Las Vegas lounge lizards as they swing their way through all of the classics.
Well done to all the performances. We know you have been looking in on the site so we hope, above anything else that you have learned something. Remember, it is all about learning a skill not about being a star. Your ability to show confidence on stage may well help you show confidence on the stage of a job interview.
MELODIE sings "You haven't seen the last of me" Never a truer word spoken in song as Melodie put sin a wonderful performance at last weeks Your Voice showcase at the Thameside Theatre.
HERE is another singer with a lot of potential. Olivia has the type of voice that you would like to hear singing a great variety of numbers. For her first appearance on the Thameside stage, she chose a Rhianna number.
WE DIDN'T realise that this was infact a Bob Dylan song which was covered by Adele and which has now been covered by Hassenbrook student Rhianna Tween. It is a tricky number and a brave choice by Rhianna.
Georgia certainly had considerable stage presence and enjoyed some fine banter with compere Darren Merrion before she sang. With a name like Georgia it seemed appropriate that there was a country twang in her voice.
However, Ben and John Garwood did make an impression there and they certainly made an impression at Your Voice on Thursday as they performed their own version of Razorlight's Golden Touch.
What you may well find with Your Voice is that the format may well develop as time goes on. This was only the second show and it is primarily for solo vocalists. But it was good to see a duo come on in the shape of JJC.
SHE may only be little but she belted it out like a seasoned pro. Mercy is a song that could go terribly wrong and added to the pressure was the fact that Annie went on first.
