The pressure was maintained on Bognor with East Thurrock throwing on their third sub, Lewis Bentley, up front and Spencer Harrison ought to have done better when he got on the end of a cross but he headed straight at Stoner.
Brantham made the early running and Sean Gunn headed over unmarked on 16. On 28 the outstanding Aaron Waters crossed and found Sam West who went close. Brantham took a shock lead on 31 when a suspicion of handbook was waved away by the officials and left Lee Grimwood to slot home. 9 minutes later there was a turning moment in the game when Tilbury were awarded a penalty for an off the ball incident in the box. A Perkins cross saw Barnetts overhead kick straight at the keeper, Mulling scooped over from close range after another Perkins cross and it was the excellent Perkins who stuck a sensational drive from long range to make it 2-0 Thurrock in the 75th minute and wrap up the game for the Fleet.
The heavens opened but that did not deter Grays with chances coming for Joe Sweeney but it was Jack West who opened the scoring in the 12th minute as he latched onto a ball from the left to step in front of the defender and side foot it strongly past the keeper.

YOU have the feeling that it is going to be a rollercoaster with Aveley this season as they came from behind to grab all three points against much-fancied Harlow. GRAYS ATHLETIC produced some champagne football to stamp their authority on the league with a 3-1 victory against Brentwood Town. Early chances for Grays as they looked to dominate. In the baking August sunshine Aveley flew out of the blocks scoring after just two minutes through Junior Dadson.
