Rocks finally got the goal they deserved on 78 minutes when a long ball from Wray stretched the home defence and Newby raced onto the end of it to lash home a superb dipping volley that even the outstretched Ross couldn’t save.

Two late goals by substitute Lee Roache saved Thurrock’s blushes against a very rugged and confident Stamford team of the Evo stik division one south. But Stamford will make the long journey home wondering what if, they had two golden opportunities to score before Thurrock’s stamina started to show the difference between the two sides in the last ten minutes of the game.

Bury Town 2 v 2 Grays Athletic

A COOL, calm and collected finish from sub Alex Osborn saw Grays dig out a well-earned 2-2 draw against Ryman Premier outfit Bury Town. Grays had the best 45 minutes of the season as they gave played wonderful possession football in midfield and attack while the defence effectively shackled former Ipswich star James Shawcroft.
