POLICE officers in Grays are appealing for information after a car was deliberately set alight in Hawkins Drive, Chafford Hundred on July 17 around 1.25am. The car, a black Ford Focus, was parked on the driveway; police believe a window was smashed and the interior of the car was then set on fire. The car suffered major fire damage.

EIGHT men have today been jailed for seven years after pleaded guilty to stealing watches and jewellery worth nearly £2m from a jewellery store in Thurrock.

A TOTAL of 47 people have been arrested in a major police operation against organised crime in south Essex. The arrests were carried out under Operation Erasure which targeted offenders involved in Class A drug dealing, burglary and violent crime.
