ELECTED school councillors in years 2-6 from Aveley primary school and year 6 from the Gateway primary free school visited the Mayor of Thurrock with their head teachers in the council chamber last week.

AS part of their coursework, the year 10 students at Harris Academy (Chafford) were set a challenge to construct, design and shape a magazine.This year, more and more of the students referred to the on-line version of the magazine than the one made from dead trees.

HASSENBROOK Academy canteen in Stanford le hope was buzzing at lunchtime today where Year 11 Citizenship students held the finale of their Fair Trade Campaign. A cake sale was staged to raise awareness with staff and students of the benefits of buying fair trade produce. All the cakes baked for the event were made in school and decorated with Fair Trade products, the profits from the sale will be donated to OXFAM.
THIS will be the first Christmas for the four schools that comprise the St Clere's Academy Co-Operative Trust. The four schools are: East Tilbury Infants, East Tilbury Juniors, Thameside Primary and St Clere's Co-Operative Academy.
THURROCK SSP has recently established a Multi Sport Disability Club for children in mainstream education to experience participating in a number of Olympic and Paralympic sports on the back of London 2012.
TREETOPS school welcomed back its past pupils and sixth formers in order to celebrate a wide variety of achievements in the last year. Headteacher Paul Smith seemed bowled over himself with the level of attainment and commitment the students had achieved.
THE SCHOOL has been following its dreams since it opened and it certainly seems that their success is a wonderful reality. Guest of honour, Thurrock MP, Jackie Doyle-Price told the students of her educational experiences. Of her dream of going to University of Durham and being advised by a teacher: "You are aiming a bit high there Jackie."
Headteacher Edward Caines said “These are exciting times in education. We have become used to failed secondary schools being reopened with a massive cash injection and a face lift but now good primary schools which are already successful are becoming independent academies with the freedom to continue their improvement we are going to see something really special.”

IT WAS, simply the best set of results in the school's history. And the results came in a year when Ofsted judged William Edwards school and sports college as outstanding. Headteacher, Steve Mundays key not address was full of fulsome praise for the students, staff and parents who had contributed to the success.
