Hassenbrook take to the streets for sponsored walk

FRIDAY SAW the temperatures plummet by about ten degrees but that did not deter the hundreds of Hassenbrook Academy students that took to the streets for their annual sponsored walk. But the Stanford public are no strangers to the school being out in the community as they do so much to support their local residents.

FIVE male and female students from years 7 to 13 are competing for a cash prize of up to £2000 in the Mardi Gras competition at Sadler’s Wells Theatre, London on Saturday 10th November. The students performing are trained in a number of dance styles from contemporary to hip-hop to ballroom.

Footie challenge raises funds for Malta tour at Hassenbrook

THE long established Hassenbrook Academy staff football team were challenged to a match by a group of year 11 leavers to raise money for a forthcoming Malta Tour scheduled for May next year. Lewis Graham, ex-student proposed the fundraising friendly which was held after school in Stanford-le-Hope. The event was promoted by prefects, officiated by current Year 11 students, Bradley Mercer, Jordan Sullivan and James Ayris and supported by all years and staff on the side line.

Blooming success at West Thurrock primary

The new school was built three years ago and some of the land was contaminated and formerly overgrown scrub land. Through the hard work of staff and the children the school has transformed its green areas, creating a vegetable allotment, a wildlife garden, a sensory garden, and an outside reading area/classroom

Construction well underway at Ormiston Park Academy

CONSTRUCTION work is underway at the new Ormiston Park Academy site as the frame is put up. Key architects behind this crucial build, that is due to shape the future of young people in Aveley, have confirmed that now that the frame is up, they can finally begin to plan the official tours of the new build.

Gable Talk: Jeans, coffee and street dance champs

Bobbie Hales and Abbi Pearson, both Year 7 students, took part in the World Championship Street Dance competition. They travelled to Bochum in Germany to compete. The girls have been dancing for three years and belong to a club called I.B. based in Basildon.

PUPILS and staff of Grays Convent School were excited to welcome Mike Callaghan, a trustee of Ford Britain, and local MP Jackie Doyle-Price, along with other Ford employees, as part of the handover of a brand new 15 seater Ford Minibus worth £35,000.

Woodside building on olympic legacy

Woodside Primary School is building on the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics to extend its already extensive programme of sports and activities for children. This term the school has added a cycling club, archery and handball to a list which now totals 50 regular clubs.

YOU WOULD expect a performing arts college to put in something special for their open evenings. Sure enough, you will see the singers sing and the actors act but, Gable Hall being Gable Hall, you will find performances all over the school.
