AS THE schools break up, year 11 students all across the borough have all sorts of plans. For many it is a six week holiday and then off to sixth form. For some, it is the spectre of unemployment. For one young man, it is off to serve his country in the armed forces.

IT HAS BEEN masterclass in organisation by Thurrock Schools Sports Partnership (TSSP) led by Alexa Joel and her team. Over the last five days, pupils from all the schools in the borough have relayed a baton from school to school
FIRSTLY, a few words of praise for the St Clere's choirs teacher, Jo Nyland-Bell. She is an old-fashioned taskmaster and she gets the absolute best out of the young people. Plus, she is not even a music teacher but the Business manager!
Dr Sophina Asong, Headteacher of Gable Hall School, said: “This partnership is a very welcome development for all young people in Stanford and Corringham. It makes possible an enriched skills and qualifications offer which further strengthens the ability of the three Academies in the North East of Thurrock (Gable Hall, St Clere’s and Hassenbrook) to provide a richer and more inclusive, work relevant curriculum.”
Tickets for the Festivals are available at the door at each performance and are priced at £4.00 each for the Infant Music Festival and £5.00 each for the Junior Music Festival. For further information please contact Thurrock Music Services on Tel: 01375 413680/413681 or email [email protected].
ATTENDANCE IS on the up at Ormiston Park Academy. No wonder: the school is in a really great place and with the turf having been turned for the new build, it is an exciting place to be.
THIS has been a busy time for the Harris Academy on the sports field. The students went to compete against other schools from the Harris Federation at Crystal Palace last week. They also did well at the Thurrock schools track and field champs. Plus they are part of the schools Olympic baton relay.
