The operation has already seen one arrest since it started on Monday, August 2. An 18–year-old man from Basildon was arrested for assault on police after police responded to a report of anti-social behaviour. He was taken in police custody and was given a police caution.

Treacle Mine Lorry Park Defeated

Developers, Lanpro Services Ltd, had appealed to the Planning Inspectorate after their proposal for a lorry park on land off the A1306 Arterial Road between Sainsbury’s Roundabout and the Treacle Mine Roundabout was refused by the Thurrock Thames Gateway Development Corporation.

Fire At Old Orleans

Firefighters were called to a small fire in the floating restaurant at Lakeside. Crews quickly extinguished the fire by 20:51 using a backpack sprayer. A thermal image camera was used to check for any remaining hotspots.

Hurry’s Heartbreak

Lakeside Hammers rider Paul Hurry’s season is over following a Grasstrack crash in France over the weekend in which he suffered fractures to both his legs. The long serving rider is determined to carry on his racing career in 2011 despite this latest setback in a career dogged by injury.
