Gas Leak In Tilbury

The main was attached to the terraced property and firefighters kept the main burning while using a jet to keep the surrounding area cool until the leak could be isolated by Gas engineers.

Women Charged With Darnley Road Murder

On Monday, June 14, Priscilla Scamp was rearrested and subsequently charged with one count of murder. The 18-year-old unemployed woman from Centurion Way in Purfleet has been detained in police custody prior to her appearance at Basildon Magistrates Court on Wednesday, June 16.

Youth Cabinet Banquet

A reception 6.15pm in the garden with Music from the Thurrock Music Service opens the event. It will be followed by a three-course meal and displays from the Thurrock Bangra dance group and DC Dance from Stanford (Ballroom dancing) and finish with light party music from the Youth Cabinet

Volunteering Awards

THE VOLUNTEERS are going to be key cogs in the caring industry over the next few years. It is important to recognise the work that they do. A group of young people were recently rewarded with certificates by the V-Volunteering organisation at a special ceremony at The Beehive in Argent Street recently.

SoSkAn, the Southern Skirmish Association, is the oldest American Civil War Re-enacting Society outside of the United States, and is now in it's 41st year. In this time the Association has performed in many and varied venues around Britain, the continent and the USA.

Man Trapped in Burning Stanford Building

At 21:23 hrs, firefighters requested the attendance of the Ambulance Service after leading a 30-year-old man out of the burning building to safety. Crews administered oxygen therapy and first aid to the casualty, who was later placed in the care of paramedics.

From Grays To San Antonio

I have been home a couple of times and my family has visited here a lot. I am a five minute drive from Seaworld San Antonio which truly is an amazing place. Every year my family and I buy season passes as they have a huge water park as well as the amazing shows with Shamu the Killer Whale and the bottle nosed dolphins.

Thurrock Cycle Marathon 2010

THE CYCLISTS turned up in their droves with one of the biggest turnout for quite a few years. The weather helped but so did the guarantee that the Mardyke Rotary Club run an well-oiled machine with marshals at key points and drinks stations at even more vital points.

Veoila Mardyke Trust Annual Tour

The tour started at Aveley Football Club. We joined them at the Rec near to Aveley High Street where pupils from Aveley Primary were enjoying the facilities. They then travelled down to the wonderful bridge at the RSPB centre in Rainham which has opened up the area to thousands of new visitors.

D-Day on Thursday For Grays

Grays were not accepted into the Ryman League because they had not submitted the relevant paperwork in time or clarified which ground they would be playing at next season.
