M25 Greater London - Two lanes closed on M25 clockwise between J29, A127 (Romford) and J30, A13 (Lakeside), because of a shed load of wine, an overturned lorry and recovery work.

POLICE are appealing for help to trace a blue Arnda Reynolds racing tandem cycle that has been stolen from a locked garden in Tilbury. The bike was taken sometime between 6pm on Friday December 13 and 8.30am on Saturday December 14 from a property in Arkwright Road.

Appeal after man glassed on train near Grays

BRITISH Transport Police (BTP) detectives have launched an investigation after a man was glassed on a train near Grays. Investigators are urging anyone who witnessed the incident, which took place on Saturday, 28 December on board the 8.50pm Fenchurch Street to Shoebury service, to come forward.

Over 700 hundred ambulance calls in area over New Year

THE region's ambulance service thanked its staff and volunteers for their work in caring for more than 2,000 patients during a busy New Year's Eve into 2014. The East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EEAST) saw 2,164 emergency calls during New Year celebrations most of which involved falls as well as assaults and sick patients. Of these, around 700 people were taken to hospital.

Focus driver sought after road rage incident in Grays

POLICE in Grays are appealing for information following a road rage incident in the town just before Christmas. A 33-year-old man was driving to work in his red Vauxhall Corsa on the Orsett Road in Grays at around 7am on Monday December 23. He was allegedly cut up at the traffic lights near the Morrisons store by a silver Ford Focus. The Corsa driver, who is from Rainham, flashed the Focus which started braking.

QE2 Bridge closes for five hours due to high winds

The bridge has now re-opened. M25 Essex - Slow traffic on M25 clockwise from J31 A1306 Arterial Road West Thurrock to A282, Dartford River Crossing toll booths, because of strong winds.

Fall in number of road deaths

"WE are continuing to apply this joined-up approach to reducing road deaths and the signs are encouraging, especially if you look back at the figures a decade ago in Essex when we were dealing with 80-100 people dying in the county after being involved in a collision,” said Chief Insp Rachel Nolan. "A large number, if not all, road deaths are avoidable so my roads policing officers and the council’s road safety officers encourage everyone from drivers to cyclists and from pedestrians to motorcyclists to act in a more responsible manner.

Two fires in Grays at start of 2014

FIRE CREWS were called out to two fires in the first few hours of 2014. Resilience crews attended two minor incidents in Grays.

Men charged over meat cleaver robbery

TWO men are due to appear in court charged with robbery following an incident in Grays. John Morgan, 24, of Anton Road, South Ockendon, and Russell Waterman, 31, of Derwent Parade, South Ockendon, stand charged with robbing a man of an iPhone and cash in Credo Road Grays on December 29.

Traffic chaos in Thurrock following bridge closure

A NIGHTMARE DAY for traffic in Thurrock. The bridge is closed with hardly a moments notice and anarchy ensues with traffic particularly bad in the Lakeside area. Some people reported being stranded for six hours! People tried the rat runs which exacerbated the problem. Crash on M25 and people drove on hard shoulder which meant emergency services could not get down there.

The manager and staff have a keen interest in developing their knowledge and skills. They complete a variety of training courses or online programmes to ensure they continuously improve the quality of the experiences offered to children.

Busy festive period for ambulance service

THE clinical support desks in the service’s control rooms handled 875 calls for lower acuity patients which can often mean a patient can remain at home and not need ambulance attendance, and community first responders volunteers, who are dispatched to life-threatening emergencies, attended 188 patients and put in thousands of hours of their own time.
