SMALL businesses across Thurrock are being warned they do not have to pay another organisation to apply for rate relief of up to 100 per cent. Thurrock Council has received some requests, from agents, for Small Business Rate Relief (SBRR) to be applied to local businesses.

Appeal for witnesses as car nearly mows down pedestrians in Tilbury

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to an incident in Tilbury where a car nearly collided with pedestrians on a crossing on September 3. A man has been arrested for motoring offences. It was around 5.30pm on September 3 when a car was reported driving dangerously along Feenan Highway in Tilbury. The car was driving near the pedestrian crossing opposite the Daisy Fields, Tilbury and narrowly missed colliding with parents and their children.

Zim drops in on London Gateway

THE Zim Rotterdam called in at DP World London Gateway port on Friday evening to undergo required maintenance. The 10,000 TEU ship will be the largest ever cargo vessel to enter the Thames and was expected alongside London Gateway at 19.00 hours.

Man sectioned after being detained on Dartford Crossing

A MAN found walking on the Dartford Crossing on Monday evening was sent to hospital with mental health issues. Youths arrested following bike thefts from Crooks House

TWO juveniles have been charged in connection with the theft of two bicycles from a block of flats in Grays in May. Following the release of CCTV a 17-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy, both from Grays, were arrested on September 4.
