Music and comedy showcase at Backstage Centre

ON Thursday 26 September, the Backstage Centre will host its first Music and Comedy Showcase, a free event to promote local talent. They are delighted to announce that Holly Hannigan will be performing, winner of the 2013 Thurrock Contemporary Musician of the Year Award.

Two women trapped in collision in Victoria Road, Stanford

FIRE CREWS using specialist cutting equipment freed two female casualties trapped following a road traffic collision.The incident involved two vehicles and happened at the junction of Victoria Road and London Road. The casualties were freed by 18:40 hrs and left in the care of the ambulance service.

Liam Holden murder trial: “Attack took less than twenty seconds”

A LOCAL man died in the arms of his girlfriend after being punched and kicked to death on a night out, a court heard. The trial into the murder of Liam Holden who died after being attacked in a car park near Morrisons on London Road, Grays on 10 March, began at Chelmsford Crown Court on Wednesday, 18 September.

College Backstage Centre students to take centre stage on BBC politics show

BRIAN Warrens, Lecturer in Production Arts (Technical Theatre) & Creative & Cultural Apprenticeship Assessor for the College, who spends much of his time with students at the Centre, said: “I’ve worked in the industry for over 30 years and the opportunities these state-of-the-art facilities give young people looking at forging a career in this traditionally ‘hard to get into’ area are second to none.
