Kazar wow Thameside’s Glee Night

Kayzar has already auditioned for Sky One’s ‘Got to Dance’ and they are also soon to feature on ITV’s ‘Britain’s Got Talent’! So I expected we will be hearing a lot more from these incredibly talented dancers very soon.

He will know of the criticisms that were made just yesterday of the Minister in the other place, Greg Barker, when he spoke at the Ecobuild conference in London. Intake at Ormiston set to rocket by 40%

The school and the amazing work that has been going on over the past 24 months are certainly a victim of its own success. The intake has been increasing every year since becoming an Academy and it is simply down to the parents who are now choosing to send their kids to their catchment school in their community and the school that has the most exciting future.

Why EMA had to go: A councillor’s view

Secondary EMA was described by a Labour education secretary as a means of providing financial incentive for 16 year old to continue in education. Despite the fact that Labour data shows that 90% of students would stay in education without EMA, The critical point is that the school compulsory leaving age is now going from 16 to 18 which means that an incentive to encourage is no longer needed because they will have to stay in the educational system. Surely the leader is not arguing that we provide incentives from that which is compulsory.

College cook-off gives food for thought

One of those students who could stand the heat and stayed in the kitchen was Josh Wright, 20, Grays. The Level 3 Catering and Hospitality student said of the experience: “It was good to see what the Southend students do and equally for them to see what we do over in Thurrock. It was good fun seeing our different styles of presentation. Today was really good because it was against the clock; if you didn’t get it done you didn’t send any food any out but I’m used to that as I work in London.”

Go Ga-Ga for Queen at Thameside

They have been going since 1989 and tomorrow (Saturday) they come to the Thameside Theatre to wow the fans with hits such as Bohemian Rhapsody, We Will Rock You and Radio Ga-Ga. The band also promise to delve deep into the bands back catalogue to play songs from the albums. With " A Night at the Opera" just re-issued on CD, this reporter hopes that songs such as The Prophets Song may get a hearing.

Saturday football fixtures

The season finishes next month and everybody has something to play for. Thurrock, Aveley and Tilbury have relegation fears on their minds whilst East Thurrock keep pushing for promotion.

Purfleet printers DPS set to go into liquidation

The Purfleet-based company has called a meeting of creditors for 8 March 2011 at which point insolvency practitioner BDO Stoy Hayward is expected to be appointed. The company's intentions are currently unclear and director Ian Falconer has not been available for comment.
