GLOBAL singing star Leona Lewis spent three days at "The Backstage Centre" in Purfleet last week ahead of her European tour. Leona became the first superstar to rehearse at the facility as she put the finishing touches to her ‘Glassheart’ tour. The tour opened in Berlin on Monday and will be in the UK next week.

“STRIDE ON” 2013 is coming to the Thameside Theatre, Grays from 24-27 April 2013 and promises to be another great show. Scouts and Guides from across Thurrock have been rehearsing every Sunday since the beginning of October to put together their traditional annual “Stride On” Gang Show, which they first staged in 1968.

Orsett Hall has introduced a new comedy evening over the last few months in the wonderfully appointed Pavilion Room. This venue is nicely set out with a small stage appropriately lit and a good friendly feel to the place. It is good value as well with three comedians on the bill plus a disco,if you so wish, for just £12 or £10 if you are a comedy club member.
THE TRIBUTE nights at the Corringham Village Hall keep coming thick and fast. On Saturday 27th April, popular Take That tribute act, “Want U Back” take to the stage. Kirsty will be the support act.

From school to college. With Thurrock Courts Players and a host of other repertory companies as well as a solo singer of some renown, Luke is a living embodiment of creative energy and imagination.

We are excited to be working with such talented, young creative students from the widest network of NSA Founder Colleges since the challenge began in 2011.”

THIS WAS supposed to be a film chronicling the life in Davy Down park in spring but as we are sure you know, it is a little bit bracing out there. But that didn't stop us from joining the dozen or so walkers who meet down at the park every Friday at 1pm.
THEY are an interesting combination. Fred Smiley is a sweet soul singer in the spirit of John Legend whilst Growsie is a rapper and producer with a serious social message. Together they have entered the Factor Essex 2013 as part of their campaign to raise their profile.
