WE ARE sure it is going to be another productive year for Grays-based video director, Smivadee. He has been able to take Thurrock artists to the next level, such as Young Reyes and Mushley but of course he works further afield.

Aladdin, the 2011/2012 pantomime at the Thameside Theatre, Grays staring Dean Gaffney and Craig Phillips came to an end last weekend after a fantastic record breaking run. The pantomime which was this year produced by Polka Dot Productions saw a record number of people in the audiences and has received many great reviews not only from within the world of theatre but also from local people who came to see the show.
On Monday 9 January, anyone interested in joining the Thurrock Community Chorus is invited to an open rehearsal to discover more about it. The open rehearsal takes place at St Clere's School, Butts Road, Stanford-le-Hope, SS17 0NW at 7.15pm. New members are very welcome.

Two free workshops are taking place in the West Barn at the High House Production Park, Purfleet between 11am – 1pm and 2pm-4pm on Saturday 14 January to for young people develop ideas. No previous experience of playing or creating music is necessary – just ideas. Composer Duncan Campbell is leading the workshops, giving expert advice and helping the budding young composers create original and exciting fanfares.
The riots came to London but stayed away from Thurrock. YT spent most of the key day trying to dampen rumours as dozens and dozens of people contacted us with "I've heard that........" Two males ended up in court over passing on texts....and Labour councillor Aaron Kiely apologised over some of his tweets on twitter.
WE HAVE always had a soft spot for the rap and grime scene in Thurrock and surrounding areas. Our first year included a lot of work with the young men out in South Ockendon as well as the sterling work of Lewis Clarke at Connexions.

ON SUNDAY he was filming in Belfast but today (Wednesday) he was rehearsing for the Aladdin panto at the Thameside theatre in Grays. Ever popular Craig has created a real buzz of excitement since it was announced that he was stepping into the breech.
Thurrock Council’s portfolio holder for Communities, Culture and Leisure, Cllr Lynn Worrall, said: “We are pleased to welcome Craig to the Thameside panto – we hope he has a good time making wishes come true!”
BIG BROTHER star, Brian Belo has quit the Thameside pantomine. The reality TV star had been missing from the pantomime Aladdin since the latter part of last week.
THE MC was Rob West at the National Skills Academy. The music was provided by the Tilbury Band. Over 300 people turned up to sing carols along a special route at the High House Production Park in Purfleet.
