THURROCK MP, Jackie Doyle Price has been to the Conservative Party conference for every year since 1993. For the first time in fourteen years, Jackie travels as a member of a party in power. YourThurrock caught up with Jackie at the unveiling of the Tilbury Trough (story to come). We asked Jackie what she expected from this years conference.

The "newspaper war" between the Patel's newsagent in Canterbury Parade in South Ockendon and the Co-Op next door seems no nearer to a resolution.
Councillor Barry Johnson has intervened to try to plead the cause for the local business who believed that there was an "informal agreement" for the Co-Op not to sell newspapers.
Members of the Rail Maritime and Transport union (RMT) and the Transport Salaried Staffs Association (TSSA) are due to walk out from 7pm for 24 hours in a row over plans to axe 800 jobs.

The banning of certain irresponsible drinks promotions, tap water must be made available free of charge on customers’ request and alcohol may not be directly dispensed into another persons mouth (unless that person needs assistance due to a disability).
The council does listen to the views of its tenants and tries, where possible, to act on those views. The council also wants to work with its tenants, making their lives easier and more comfortable.
Over the coming decades the ratio of working people to retired people will drop from 4:1 to 2:1; there will be significantly more people with dementia who will need support; and there will be significantly higher numbers of very elderly people living longer.
When YourThurrock questioned Leader of the Council, John Kent he confessed that he didn't even know the council had a youtube channel whilst other Labour councillors have privately admitted that after four months in control they have realised that wresting the council from the grasp of officers may be beyond them.
Mr Perrin said: "I was invited to the meeting to address a number of issues. Once I got there I felt an uncomfortable atmosphere. The meeting turned into something akin to a "Kangaroo Court"". As tempers frayed I was referring to evidence I had on a printed out e-mail. As I held it, a woman tried to grab it. I held onto it and jerked forward as she tried to yank it again".
THURROCK LABOUR voted for Ed Miliband back in July and have expressed their delight when he won the leadership contest in Manchester this afternoon by a slender 1.3% from his brother and long-time favourite David. Reacting to the result, Chair of the Thurrock Labour Party, Valerie Morris-Cook said: "Thurrock CLP are very pleased and excited for the future.
JUST moments after Thurrock Council's Planning Committee gave an unauthorised lorry park in West Thurrock twenty eight days notice to cease functioning, the council then allowed a Thurrock Council employee to overturn an enforcement notice in relation to her loft conversion in Stifford Clays.
The original proposal was for one year but in a dramatic about-turn, Leader of Planning, Cllr Terry Hipsey urged fellow members of the committee to give the Industrial Chemicals Group (ICG) only 28 days to cease using the area in Oliver Road, West Thurrock.
