AT A meeting at Wembley Stadium today (Thursday July 15) the League has reached an agreement with Grays Athletic FC and East Thurrock United FC for Grays Athletic to play at East Thurrock's ground for the next two seasons.
West Ham Ladies started their pre season campaign with a emphatic win over Plymouth Ladies, the team included a number of trialist all of them did enough to impress new manager Julia Setford.
This is Cliff’s third spell with Thurrock having made 121 appearances and scoring 48 goals on his previous two spells. One of those goals was the classic against Luton Town in the FA Cup first round replay on 18th Nov 2003 which Luton won 3-1.
We will take a couple of days to think things through. We do have the option of a place in the Essex Senior League but we appear to be limited to where we could play and that presents difficulties for our fans. We will try and consult with them as well about what they want us to do. It’s a very sad day for Grays Athletic and for football.”
The Ryman League appear to be as concerned about the delay as the club’s fans, with Ryman chairman Alan Turvey telling the Enquirer this evening that the League had heard nothing from the FA, despite their key management team being together for most of the day when they could have dealt with any decision and its implications.
The overall winners were FC Barolle who play in the Ilford District League but it was a close thing. In the final they overcame Tilbury (Anchor) on penalties after the game ended goalless
t's been a quiet time on the news front, but manager Hakan Hayrettin has been in constant demand by players new and old eager to join the Thurrock squad.
We have 9 players ready to sign plus Duran Reynolds, Ibsey, JoJo, Retkoceri, a loan spell from Alex osborn and the return of Goalkeeper Stuart Robinson plus ex Celtic and West Ham forward Stuart Slater who will play in some of the pre season friendlies and to help our new strikeforce.
Grays were not accepted into the Ryman League because they had not submitted the relevant paperwork in time or clarified which ground they would be playing at next season.
GRAYS midfielder Kenny Davis has been transferred to Blue Square South outfit Braintree Town. Utility man Davis was a firm favourite with the fans but struggled to establish himself for much of the season.
