Dennis is a menace as Grays win through in FA Trophy

Grays started brightly. In the 4th minute, Jean-Michel Sigere burst through from outside the area, passed to Joao Carlos who crossed to David Cowley but he blasted from close range straight at the keeper. Grays soon broke through. In the 8th minute, Louis Dennis placed the ball home from close range after the keeper could only parry away Joao Carlos' shot.

Athletics: Veterans show a touch of class for Harriers

Thurrock's distance veteran runners are in the middle of preparing for the county cross championships in early December. They will be looking for medals in all age groups. Odds on favourite for the 70+ race is the indefatigable Pat Dobbs who has won all the road championships except the marathon. At this distance he is the current London marathon champion for his age group.

EAST Thurrock United’s stuttering start to the season has been notable for the absence of striker Sam Higgins through injury – but he is now getting back towards full fitness and on his first start of the season he proved the difference between these two sides in Middlesex on Tuesday evening reports the Thurrock Enquirer.

Star of the younger age groups was Gemma Holloway. She has emerged slowly over the Summer to become a leading light in her age group in the County. On Saturday she won the under 15 girls race with considerable ease and has her sights set on regional and national championships. Gemma lives in Grays and attends William Edwards Sports College.

FA Cup: Rocks by the sea if they win replay

Blue Square Bet South Thurrock will face Conference side Forest Green Rovers if they get through a replay at Arlesey tomorrow evening. East Thurrock United also have a replay tomorrow, and the winners of their tie against North Greenford United , will be going to Eastbourne Borough from the Blue Square Bet South.

Football: Dockers just get better and better

Within 2 minutes Abbey's Cawley shot and James Marrable had to tip over. Chances started to come for both sides and Joe Nightingill went close when he ghosted in from a Webb free kick. 7 minutes before the break, Demetriou played in Webb who shot and hit the inside of both posts before going over the line. Just before the break Bradley Barnes crossed for Alex Read who hit just over the top.

Fleet falter as held to draw by lowly Arlesey in FA Cup

In a scrappy game where both sides failed to produce any real footballing skill and with the home side expected to win it was a disappointing performance when after ninety minutes it remained goal less. Rikki Burbridge had a half chance in the 21st minute when he slid onto a through ball from Lee Boylan, but the keeper was quick to react and cut off any danger.

Rocks come back from 3-0 down to earn draw in FA Cup

Rocks looked like they were playing with eight players. There were holes everywhere and Greenford looked like they could have a hatful. Remarkably considering they only had two fit subs, they brought on three at half time. Tom Stephens, Sam Higgins and Greg Cohen coming on.

Great win for Tilbury sees them back in play-off berth

The Dockers returned to the play-off places after a stirring performance that saw them win 4-1 against rivals Romford at Chadfields last night (Wednesday). Earlier this week, boss Paul Vaughan had made two vital signings in former Grays players Tom Harvey and Stephen Demetriou and it was Harvey who got on the scoresheet with a 73rd minute strike.

The Thurrock Business 6 A-Side League and the Thurrock Vets 6 A-Side League are part of the "Get into Football" project which is a new initiative from the FA, encouraging 16+ to return to the game, by providing more opportunities to play and more flexible formats of the game.

Big night for Small as hat-trick sinks Abbey in cup

GRAYS ATH got their season back on track with an assured performance against Waltham Abbey. In contrast to Saturday, where Grays Ath were always chasing the game, the Blues had their foot on the ball the whole time.
