The event gives the council a chance to show off the many different aspects of its work, from park rangers to cycle safety and adult education to the Thameside Theatre, libraries and the borough’s heritage. Thurrock Council has regularly highlighted its services at the show and this year co-ordinated its efforts around one corner of the ground.
THURROCK COUNCIL bosses have indicated that they have no plans to turn off the street lights in Thurrock.The matter came to light as Essex County Council (ECC) have announced a series of cuts to lighting in Essex.

The principal speaker will be Cllr Barbara Rice on current health issues, particularly those affecting the local area; Cllr Rice will also discuss the relationship between the environment and health.
ALTHOUGH the members and volunteers at Davy Down are mourning the loss of the chair of their charity, councillor Diana Hale, it was her expressed wish that they should “keep it all going” and this is the intention.

LOCAL groups in Thurrock have a month to seek a grant if they have ideas or plans for something which will enhance their community. The Community Grants programme provides grants from £500 to £5,000 for revenue or small capital purchases up to £1,000 and applications are being sought now – with a closing date of midnight on Monday, 7 October.

FIRE CREWS were called to a disused school site in Leicester Road, Tilbury. Crews used one hose reel to tackle a fire at the derelict Jack Lobley school where one of the classrooms was reported to be well alight.

FEN LANE, Orsett has been blocked after well over three hundred lorry tyres were found dumped in the lane. The tyres lay strewn cross the lane around 400 metres from the Orsett entrance.
