Writing in the newsletter she reported that the Thurrock branch hosted a preliminary meeting of the organising committee of the Thames Estuary Olympic Walk. some 28 delegates from U3A branches from Essex and Suffolk.. She expressed her thanks for a donation of £100 from the Chafford Hundred branch of Sainsbury's, to cover the catering. She reported that there will be a need for volunteers as stewards and helpers during the event
Like the previous events this will be again full of singing and dancing by various local groups, young and old. Everyone will have an enjoyable time. There is a special performance by National BHANGRA GROUP called JUGNU.
The sponsored walk starts from the ranger's office car park from 6pm. It is open to children of all ages, although parents with smaller children are asked to accompany them. Everyone attending should take a torch and wear rubber boots.

A THREE-FEET white stone boundary post discovered in Chadwell St Mary has been donated to Thurrock Museum in the Thameside complex, Grays. Housing developers close to Sleeper’s Farm at the Cross Key’s in Chadwell village unearthed the boundary stone and it was noticed by John Matthews a local historian who contacted the museum.

As part of its effort to revive Islam, Ahmadiyya Muslim Community continues to spread his teachings of moderation despite bitter opposition from parts of the Muslim world.

Thurrock Asian Association celebrated National Older People’s Day on Sunday 2nd October, 2011 at the Asian Resource Centre, 35 Clarence Road, Grays which was attended by 42 local residents representing all communities living in Thurrock.
